13's Summer Harvest

Blood droplets cleanse the earth of life:
The human body of the human soul.
Left foot, right foot,
The trudging continues,
The blood prevents

Drip, drip: it grows!

Traction decreases and balance wavers,
The earth’s the sky and the sky the earth:
An axis unturned,
Left foot, right foot,
The trudging continues!

Drip, drip: time slows.

Sanguine mirrors and images of the decomposing dead
Left to rot, to wither into decay.
Deep red reflections,
Faces foreign and near
Luring twirling
Taunting mocking…

Grief
appears
like a bolus
soaked in bile:
poisoned with HCL
for the widow  forced to watch their Jr. Grow:
for the grandson left
ambition-
less,

beacon-
less...
those lost in despair.

Death's garden grows as the days go by and by,
and the winter
draws
in
to
numb
the world’s toes.
Bloody tears fall, watering the earth,
Sprouting boney thorns and calcified stalks,
Veiny roots and capillaric clots:
Stalks grown in ancestral blood:
Familiar skin,

His skin, her skin, our skin:
a mural of kin!

Death is nigh,
I know that burn…!
Drip drip, drip drip:
the harvest has grown!
